Church Life

Pastoral Committee

The pastoral committee consists of about twenty five pastoral visitors whose role is to offer pastoral care and remain in contact with both members and adherents, without being intrusive.

The committee meets twice a year and is chaired by the Minister. If you are new to our Church and would like a pastoral visit from a member of the team please contact the Minister.

Property Committee

Being a large Church usually means lots of buildings to maintain and manage. We are no exception. Apart from the main Church building we have another two large rooms and several ancillary rooms, (all of which are available for hire at reasonable rates, please see 'Contact Us' page) together with gardens and Car Park.

Looking after all this is the responsibility of the Property Committee. In addition they take care of things like heating, cleaning, room lettings, and Church equipment.

House Groups

At present the Church has three House groups each meeting every two weeks or every four weeks. There are both evening and afternoon meetings. Just over fifty people meet in this way to enjoy fellowship, discussion and study. Anyone interested in becoming part of a House Group should contact the Minister. You will be made very welcome should you decide to join a group.

Finance committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for identifying the financial requirements of the church and for preparing plans to meet these requirements. This is achieved by preparing an annual budget and, when this is approved by the Church Council, comparing performance against this budget. The Finance Committee meets regularly to monitor performance, to consider and approve additional costs which have arisen or which may be expected to arise, and to suggest methods of augmenting income. These are referred to the Church Council for discussion and for approval, or otherwise, of the Committee's recommendations.

Traidcraft

We are a Fair Trade Church. Our Fair Trader sells fair traded products on the third Sunday of each month. We use fairly traded refreshments at all meetings for which we have responsibility. Regular contributions are made to Traidcraft Exchange the charity arm of Traidcraft.
